JF937 || This small Koru Spiral carved from Wyoming from Wyoming Black Nephrite Jade - muka tab three plaited waxed cord Necklace – by Joe Foster
Black jade gets its color from high iron content and in many cases is not translucent. This one shows green when strongly backlit in thinner areas but I would not consider it translucent.
Wyoming Nephrite Jade holds a unique significance among North American nephrite sources, specifically known for its exceptional color and translucence, qualities often prized above other jades. This specific piece is carved into a koru, the revered spiral symbol inspired by the unfurling fern frond, which inherently carries the stone's energy and beauty. The highly translucent quality of this jade, allowing light to penetrate deeply, symbolizes clarity, purity, and profound spiritual depth. The koru shape powerfully signifies new beginnings, growth, and harmony, often being gifted to bless a fresh start or mark personal evolution. Therefore, this Wyoming Green Nephrite Koru is a beautiful, tangible link to the raw, ancient power of the American West that simultaneously serves as a personal blessing for an unfolding journey ahead.
